Families fight back against HS2
HUNDREDS of worried families turned up at two protest meetings called against plans to drive high speed trains through the heart of the Staffordshire countryside.
The meetings, at Swynnerton and Madeley, were organised Stone MP Bill Cash to ask residents to join him in the fight against HS2.
The Conservative MP said: "I'm here in opposition to these proposals."
Mr Cash is now asking villagers to form their own action groups which would link into the national protests against HS2.

“I think that instead of HS2 Rail better economic prosperity will come from a super fast broadband.
Money spent on connecting all areas of United Kingdom with fiberoptic telephone and Infinity type super fast broadband will help the businesses more than human travel.
We should invest wisely for the future.”

“It seems very strange to me that we would even think about spending 32 billion pounds on this high speed line just to arrive in London 30 mins quicker. This is almost as pathetic as our corrupt council spend 60 million pounds relocating to Hanley.”

“lornestloyal - Yeh! Madeley NIMBY's. Anybody would have thought they didn't want the two major railways plus the M6 running through their backyards eh?”

“NIMBYS - all of 'em.
I think the money could be better spent on other projects to improve transport networks (did you know that Virgin peak time train run at around only 52% according to some reports) but nothing turns me against a protect quicker than self-interested arguments. Not so quick to get their MP up to protest about the Tories cuts to disability benefits were they?”
