ARTWORK featuring Stoke-on-Trent's industrial heritage is proving a hit for a Potteries ceramics gallery.

Mark Nixon, pictured right, who runs Glazed Art at Trentham Gardens, has commissioned a new glass piece from Caithness featuring Middleport Pottery and the Trent & Mersey canal.

He has already picked up 20 orders and believes it will be popular with ex-Stokies all over the world.

Mark said: "Caithness is a world-famous brand – they are well-known for their paperweights – so for them to do something revolving around Stoke-on-Trent is fantastic.

"I have to order a minimum of 25, but I'd already sold 20 before they'd all arrived."

Mark said: "Anything featuring potbanks is always popular – at the moment I've got four pieces by a local artist on the way to Singapore, and last Christmas we sent an order to Jamaica. "People may move from Stoke-on-Trent but they are very proud of their heritage."
