WARWICK Davis may not star in this year's Regent Theatre pantomime, but as its assistant director he is certainly worth a mention.

If you saw the cult film Willow, he was the hero. And if you remember the cute and cuddly Ewoks in Star Wars, he was one of them too, and even ended up having a bath with Justin Lee Collins this summer when the presenter attempted to reunite the Star Wars cast for Channel 4.

He also plays character Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter films, and has recently finished filming the latest instalment.

Currently working on his own television pseudo-documentary, he has been taking time out to help Jonathan Wilkes direct Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs.

Warwick says: "Snow White is the second most popular pantomime, and that's largely because of its great story. There's good versus evil, a great villain, and a heroic prince, the Disney connection, and the dwarfs. The dwarfs don't come on until well into the first half, but you can always sense the anticipation when they do."

While young readers might be already excited about seeing the completed Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Warwick, who today has children of his own, was around their age when he appeared in Star Wars Episode IV: Return Of The Jedi.

"It was amazing and it's not a bad thing to have on your CV," he says.

"Wearing the Ewok costume, it was so hot the eyes kept misting up so I couldn't see where I was going, I had paws made of Latex, and I was wearing several inches of fur all over my body.

"But none of that bothered me. Why would it? I was 11-years-old and battling Stormtroopers."
