Event marks canal history
CRAFTS and outdoor play are in store for families visiting a beauty spot.
Children are encouraged to paint tiles among the activities at Westport Lake in Tunstall.
There are also outdoor games such as bug hunts and guided walks to encourage children to play outdoors.
British Waterways' Canals for the Community and Staffordshire Wildlife Trust's Wild Play project have teamed up for the events, which have been running over the Easter weekend.
Activities began on Friday and and run from 1pm until 3pm today.
Canals for the Community project officer Cassie Weaver said: "The tile painting high- lights the importance of the canals' history and what they were used for in the past. Our goal is to help the local community appreciate what is right on their doorstep. The canals are great for recreational use, and are part of the urban wildlife corridor."
