This is Staffordshire

Your name: Sam Hale

Which ward are you standing for?  Cheadle, South East

Why are you standing as a councillor?

I want to bring a fresh approach to Cheadle politics—by bringing people together to sort out issues that matter to our community. I don’t believe that my ward has had sufficient representation on the council in the last few years, and that a strong councillor is needed. I can bring a fresh face, fresh approach and fresh ideas to the table.

What is the one most important issue you would like to tackle as a councillor?

Investment in the town

What are the issues in your ward?

Safe recreation grounds – no cost-cutting when it comes to the safety of the play areas. Invigorate the market area by attracting local, regular stalls by subsidising pitch rent and incentivising pre-booking. Propose business rate relief to encourage shops into Cheadle. Provide a training programme for town shop assistants to ensure returning visitors, tourists and shoppers. Create and properly market food/local produce festivals, as well as offer support and backing to local community groups and projects. Back community volunteers and groups to encourage community pride and spirit.

Why do you think people should vote for you?

I live in the South East Ward, and if elected, I would work tirelessly for my area. I am keen to promote tourism, greater community pride and vibrancy within our town through community events and festivals. I was honoured to receive the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Award for service to the community, organising events and outstanding commitment to volunteer work.
