'THE staff at The Rose and Crown Inn have always been fantastic. It's a real pleasure in this day and age to find a pub and restaurant that has kept its character and charm, without succumbing to the latest modern style decor. That alone is enough to bring me back time and time again, with the added bonus of great food. My favourite lunchtime meal would have to be the steak and kidney pie with chips, it's faultless. The chips are homemade and are served warm, crispy and browned which is a real treat compared to the thick tasteless oven chips you can normally expect when eating out. The pie is another of the chef's homemade treats, with lovely thick chunks of meat combined with a delicious gravy, all topped off with a perfect pastry and served with vegetables. And remarkably, it's all still served at a very reasonable price, making the experience all the more enjoyable. If you can find space after your filling main course, whether it be a hot beef sandwich, scampi or braising steak, I strongly recommend the hot cherry pie with cream.'
