A DRUNKEN escapade landed a 20-year-old man in court.

Mark Inch moved barriers owned by power company E.on into the middle of Lysander Road, Meir Park North Staffordshire Magistrates heard.

Sandra Whitehurst, prosecuting, said two people saw the barriers across the carriageway in the early hours of February 27 and also saw Inch, who was drunk and still at the scene.

Inch, of Seddon Road, Meir, later told police: "I do stupid things when I get drunk. I can remember waking up in a cell and wondering what stupid thing I had done this time."

He pleaded guilty to interfering with the barriers causing a danger and was fined £65, with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. For breach of a conditional discharge he was fined £50.
