THE Douglas Macmillan Hospice would like to thank local people for their continued support, despite so many people being affected by rising day-to-day living costs. Without voluntary donations of money, time, goods and services, the hospice cannot continue to provide the quality of care that families across North Staffordshire depend on when facing terminal illness. It is not possible to name individuals in this column or indeed to mention every donation but some of the firms, groups and organisations it would like to thank are:

Duke of York and Clowes Dance Hall for £440 from the sale of gem boxes.

Hair Room & Beauty, Blythe Bridge, for £234 from a fund-raising day.

Lawton Manor Nursing Home, Church Lawton, for a £32 donation.

Cottage Delight, Leek, for £68 in lieu of sending Christmas cards.

Afford Rent A Car, Fenton, for £150 in lieu of sending Christmas cards.

Christchurch Middle School, Stone, for £60 in lieu of sending Christmas cards.

Pets At Home distribution centre, Trentham, for £301.17 from dress down days and fund-raising activities.

Christ Church, Fenton, for a £100 donation.

Newcastle Children's Centre, Knutton, for £100 from the Let Us Snow We Care campaign.

Elizabeth Lodge 10430, Kidsgrove, for £120 from raffles.

Furlong Medical Centre, Tunstall, for £216.23 from a raffle.

Meir Community Centre's indoor bowling club for £31 from the Let Us Snow We Care campaign.

Dougie Mac shops are looking for any unwanted items. People are asked to visit the shops to donate clothes, bric a brac, and books – anything of good quality that can be sold to raise invaluable funds for the hospice.

The shops are open from Monday to Saturday, from 9.30am to 4.30pm, and are situated in Alsager, Biddulph, Cheadle, Hanley, Kidsgrove, Leek, Longton, Meir, Newcastle, Stoke and Tunstall.
