BLANKET PLEA: Kennels are appealing for more bedding to help keep Wallace the dog and his canine pals warm this winter.

The three-year-old terrier is just one of the dogs at Animal Lifeline left with a limited amount of bedding after a frozen water supply meant the charity could not wash the blankets.

This meant a large amount of bedding had to be thrown away.

Manager Steve Woodward, aged 51, said: "We're running low on supplies of bedding. The water supply was frozen for three days so we had to throw a lot of it away.

"We've got 75 dogs here, they've all got bedding at the moment but stocks are low compared with last year."

Animal Lifeline, based in Leek Road, Werrington, is now appealing for donations of blankets to the kennels or its shops in Newcastle and Longton.
