Dog lover's anger at lack of help
SORE PAW: Black labrador-cross Eddie is recovering after injuring his paw on a shard of glass during a walk at Trentham Gardens.
The 10-month-old rescue dog was enjoying a ramble with owner Lisa Balance when he caught his paw on a piece of glass in the ground.

Lisa, of Beacon Grove, Stone, and her 21-year-old son Jason, pictured with Eddie, had to carry their pet back to the car and took him to Shires Veterinary Surgery, Stone.
Lisa, aged 41, said: "His paw started to pour with blood and Jason had to tear the sleeve off his jumper to wrap around it to try and stem the bleeding.
"We had to carry him back to the car and, even though he didn't wince, he must have been in pain.
"I was disappointed because I believe a number of gardens staff saw us but didn't offer to help.
"Eddie had to be given a general anaesthetic at the vets and he had stitches and his paw bandaged."
Trentham Estate director Mike Herbert said: "We are sorry to hear about the incident regarding Mrs Balance's dog on Friday.
"We regularly have a large number of visitors and our staff are very attentive to them, but we were not aware of the incident.
"We are responding personally to Mrs Balance and hope her dog makes a speedy recovery."

“To Warren. Broken glass can be very small and difficult to see. Have you ever trodden on/in something you didn't want to? If so, were you not in control of yourself ? I do think that Trentham Estate staff could have helped with maybe one of those estate vehicles to get Eddie back to the car park ... but this would only be reasonable if assistance was asked for. Otherwise ... accidents happen, I'm afraid”

“I wish Eddie a speedy recovery.
Can I ask Mrs. Balance what she infact wanted Trentham staff to do. The dog would have been in pain and stressed as it was. Strangers comeing to asist may have upset him more and he may, out of panic biten someone. Also, was Eddie fully under control, if so, why was he alowed to tread on glass that would have been seen before hand.”

“ye news as it allerts other dog walkers to the dangers of glass. also it informs the workers at the gardens to keep an eye out for the fools that throw or break glass bottles around the gardens.”

“Emergency vets on call 24/7 at Trentham Gardens perhaps?
When you have pets you expect problems occasionally, get a life!”
