Detention for 20-year-old who carried out pub attack
TWENTY-YEAR-OLD Lee Plimmer has been sentenced to 15 months' in a Young Offenders' Institution for punching a man and driving dangerously.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court was yesterday told Plimmer assaulted Daniel Metcalfe in the Duke of Wellington pub, Blythe Bridge, on November 28, at about 10pm.
He went inside and punched Mr Metcalfe in the mouth, because he believed he had made nasty comments about his cousin.
Later, Plimmer went to The Mango Tree restaurant, Uttoxeter Road, Draycott, and was aggressive to the owner and a family dining.
He got in a car and drove off with no lights on before returning.
Police arrived and Plimmer, of Woodlands Lane, Blythe Bridge, reversed at them.
Heather Chamberlin, prosecuting, said: "The officers had to jump out the way to avoid being hit."
Plimmer returned seconds later, but police used a stinger device which punctured three tyres, though he drove off, before crashing.
Plimmer fled, but was arrested at 12.30am. A breath test showed 60 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.
He admitted dangerous driving, assault, using threatening abusive words or behaviour, excess alcohol and driving without insurance.
Judge Robert Trevor-Jones also gave him a two-year driving ban.
