Daughter hit mum's partner with mug
A TEENAGER injured her mum's partner by throwing a mug at him in a row over the internet.
Yasmin Downes argued with her victim while he was working on the computer.
The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding in relation to the offence, which took place at 8.50pm on October 4 last year.
Prosecutor Philip Beardwell told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court: "She accused him of doing something to the internet. The argument continued. She had a mug in her hand and he felt a blow to his left temple."
Downes, of Capel Way, Nantwich, pleaded guilty on the basis she threw a mug, but she had no intention of assaulting the victim.
The court heard the teenager, who no longer lives with the complainant, has since apologised and the victim has forgiven her.
Downes was sentenced to eight months' custody in a young offenders' institution, suspended for two years, with 12 months' supervision and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Judge Simon Tonking told her that he accepted the proceedings had been a punishment for her and said he did not think that she would appear before the courts again.
Downes was also ordered to pay £500 costs.
