The Brazilian full-back returns to his homeland having made just five senior appearances since joining Rovers in summer 2011.

Ribeiro forced his way into the first-team picture at the start of the current campaign, but has not played since being substituted during September's 2-1 home defeat to Middlesbrough – the final game of Steve Kean's troubled spell in charge.

SHREWSBURY have signed David McAllister from SHEFFIELD UNITED for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder is no stranger to Shrews having enjoyed two months on loan over the second half of last season, making 15 league starts and helping the Shropshire club earn automatic promotion from League Two.

He also scored for the Blades against Shrewsbury earlier this season.

Manager Graham Turner said: "I think initially it was a surprise that Sheffield United would sell him as he's figured in a lot of their games.

"But I think the fact he has been here, he knows all about us, knows the professional attitude, the work ethic here, I think it did help in his decision to join us."

BRISTOL ROVERS defender Garry Kenneth could be sidelined for up to nine months after rupturing knee ligaments.

The 25-year-old came off at half-time in the 2-0 defeat to League Two leaders Gillingham and a specialist confirmed he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.

The Scot will undergo an operation on Friday and manager John Ward has said he is looking at bringing in another defender as he attempts to steer the Pirates away from the relegation zone.
