Dad and sons jailed for car park attack
A FATHER and his two sons have been jailed after a "disgraceful" incident of violence outside a pub.
Leslie Bradshaw, aged 53, and his two sons Paul, aged 23, and Brindon, aged 30, were each sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to an affray at the Potters Bar pub in Meir Park on April 17 last year.
-

Prosecutor Paul Spratt yesterday told Stafford Crown Court there was some acrimony between the Bradshaws and their victim, Dimitrius Sakkas.
He said Mr Sakkas had at some point been engaged with Paul Bradshaw's ex-girlfriend and he has also dated Brindon Bradshaw's ex-wife.
"That brought a degree of acrimony between them and it all came to a head on April 17," said Mr Spratt.
"At 7.05pm Mr Sakkas and a friend went to a pub in the Meir area where the defendants were also drinking. Neither set of parties would have known that at the time. When he drew up outside it became known that the Bradshaws were there and they saw him. They came out of the pub before Mr Sakkas and his passenger had got out. Paul Bradshaw came out holding two glasses.
"He threw both through the driver's side window. The first hit the passenger, the second hit Mr Sakkas on the back. Both glasses smashed.
"Paul Bradshaw kicked the driver's door and caused a dent."
Mr Spratt said Brindon then went to the vehicle and opened the driver's door.
"He tried to pull Mr Sakkas out and punched him to the head, face and body. Mr Sakkas said he felt like he was being kicked as well," said Mr Spratt.
He added: "Leslie Bradshaw came out. He was carrying a bottle. He threw that at the windscreen, smashing the windscreen.
"He was abusive to Mr Sakkas and used the phrase 'Nothing will happen to me, I own this town'."
The court heard a woman intervened and brought the incident to an end and Mr Sakkas drove away.
He suffered an injury to his right elbow, scratches to his back, reddening to his neck and a small cut to his finger. He needed butterfly stitches at hospital.
Peter McCartney, who represented all three defendants, said Brindon, a father-of-one, of Cheadle Road, Forsbrook, was upset at what had gone on between the complainant and his wife.
"That is obviously what led to these events. He regrets that very much and regrets he has brought his brother and father in the situation."
Mr McCartney said Leslie and Paul, both of Leigh Lane, Leigh, near Uttoxeter, were remorseful. He added their behaviour was completely out of character.
Mr McCartney invited Recorder Nirmal Shant QC to sentence all three men to a community order or suspend any prison sentences.
"For these three breadwinners from a single family to go to custody would be a devastating event," he added.
But the judge said although none of the defendants have been involved in serious violence before, in her judgment, the case passed the custody threshold.
Jailing each defendant for six months, Recorder Shant QC said: "It was a disgraceful incident during the course of which glasses and bottles were brandished and used. You Leslie Bradshaw, you ought to have known better.
"I am afraid it has to be immediate custody."

“Typical round here and most places in Stoke and much of everywhere else in the UK. I stopped drinking in the 'Windmill' pub 2 years ago and now only frequent country pubs away from the rif raf (sorry it's true !)
There seems to be a section of society in this country that wish they were still at school. They cannot stand to be away from their 'peer' group for more than 5 minutes . . They spend every waking hour in the pub drinking, and sneer and jibe folks that aren't part of their 'click'
It's not just the alcohol . . they act the same way in the office / workplace. They seem unable to let go of school days, grow up and think for themselves.
there are a good few of them in the Meir / Meir Park / Dresden / Lightwood area.”

“amazing difference in sentencing between area.Since i moved to Shropshire the courts seem to have far less tolerance and all sentences are consistent.3 brothers attacked i person with pool cues and glasses over here and all 3 got 3 years each, even though one used no weapon,he was guilty of kicking. The judge said this made him as equally guilty.A father and son attacked a man on a pub car park, same 3 years.Only this week the police in 100 mph chase with drunken driver, who hit a parked car.No previous convictions of any sort,3years for drunk driving and dangerous driving and a 5 year ban and retest. They are lucky to have lenient judges in Stoke”

“My Thought on reading this article is this Dimitrius Sakkas has some kind of personal problem with the Bradshaws - why would you date two of the brothers ex partners? seems he wanted trouble, and trouble is what he got.
We can all sit here on our high horses and say violence is not the answer, however we would not know how we would react if we saw a guy smirking at you who was boasting about sleeping with your ex wife/girlfriend.
On doing some reasearch you can see that the Bradshaw family are hard workers, angels they may not be, but i perfer people like that on our streets then terrorists, rapists etc.
Ive seen loads of fights outside pubs all around stoke-on-trent and police have not been involved as the men just got up with there dignity in tact and not looking like a little wimp.
Hope the 6 months goes quick for you lads and dont take the bait again - and hopefully Dimitrius Sakkas can Man up and get girlfriends on his own.”

“he aint that kind of bloke, he is no street scrapper, he wouldn't go that low, he would rather have a laff and joke with anyone than scrap with em as you well know if you do know him as well as I do"
Well it would appear that he is that kind of bloke, and did go that low. Maybe you don't know him quite as well as you think you do?”
