Cricket: Whitmore look for cup shock
LEEK travel to Whitmore tomorrow for the one remaining Staffordshire Cup first-round fixture.
Last Sunday's washed out Sentinel Talbot Shield second-round matches will also be played.
Staffordshire Women are in action tomorrow when they take on Devon at Wolverhampton.
In the Cheshire Cup, Old Parkonians host Crewe, while in the National Club Championship, Nantwich travel to Walsall.
On Monday afternoon, Stone SP take on Stafford in the Stone Charity Cup (2pm).
THE Barney McArdle Trophy finals take place on Bank Holiday Monday when the champions of all four divisions take part in a Twenty20 competition at Whitmore. In the first game, starting at 10.45am, Whitmore play Leycett, followed by Moddershall against Alsager.
ON Tuesday, Staffordshire under-17s face Warwickshire at Kings Heath and then play Northants at Denstone College on Thursday (both 11am).
On the same day, the under-14s play Yorkshire at Wolverhampton and the under-13s take on North East Wales at Wood Lane (12.30pm) before travelling to play Wales on Thursday.
The girls' under-17s entertain the MCC at Meir Heath on Thursday (10.45am), while he under-14s are in action today with a game against Worcestershire at Worcester Royal Grammar School (11am).
STAFFORDSHIRE under-13s recorded a comfortable victory over Walsall's Queen Mary's Grammar School in the third of their four squad development fixtures.
Staffordshire scored 180 from their allocated 35 overs, with Wolverhampton's Jack Lewis (41) and Moddershall's Richard Williams (32) both retiring not out.
In reply, Queen Mary's reached 97-8 as Williams completed a good all-round performance by taking 2-1.
Checkley keeper Alex Woods claimed three stumpings.
WOOD Lane have cancelled their fun day at Megacre tomorrow.
The club's summer beer festival starts on Wednesday and continues until Sunday.
BLYTHE are holding a three-mile walking treasure hunt and barbecue on Bank Holiday Monday, at 1pm. Entry is free.
THE Cheshire Women's Cricket League has been awarded £9,900 under the National Lottery's Awards for All scheme.
The league will use these funds to assist with the efforts to increase the participation of girls in cricket and to establish the new Cheshire Girls' League in 2010.
