Cricket: Premier new boys to clash on first day of top flight return
CHEADLE and Checkley will quickly renew acquaintances when they meet on the opening day of the Premier League season.
The duo, promoted from Division One, will lock horns at Cheadle's Tean Road when the new North Staffs and South Cheshire League campaign starts on April 14.
Checkley follow up with tough-looking home games against champions Wood Lane and runners-up Leek.
Cheadle visit Burslem in week two, before entertaining Hem Heath in a baptism of fire to life at the top table.
Checkley skipper Andy Carr said: "The opening day leads us into the Premier League in a comfortable manner, but we know that we have a mountain to climb.
"There are no easy games, so it is going to be a massive season for us – especially the players who haven't been in the Premier before.
"But I have every confidence we'll acquit ourselves well, and I know there will be plenty of fight."
Cheadle captain Simon Plant said: "Both us and Checkley will target a big haul of points from the match to start on the right foot.
"It is important to build a platform for yourself and not let teams get away from you in the early part of the season."
Another mouth-watering first day clash sees Wood Lane face Leek, while Hem Heath go to Porthill Park.
Knypersley host Audley, Little Stoke visit Longton and Stone meet Burslem at Lichfield Street.
In Division One, Barlaston open their bid to reclaim their top-flight status at home to Meir Heath, with fellow relegated side Sandyford travelling to Whitmore.
Promoted pair Meakins and Silverdale will experience home comforts with matches against Leycett and Whitmore respectively.
Division Two new boys Eccleshall and Woore open up with home matches against Rode Park and Lawton and Ashcombe Park.
Relegated Oulton make their bow in the third tier at home to Alsager, with Weston – who also dropped down – entertaining Caverswall.
Stone and District League champions Church Eaton have been paired with relegated Crewe for their NSSCL debut, with Bagnall – back in the bottom division after one season – make the trip to Hem Heath Forsbrook.
