OAKAMOOR all-rounder Mohammad Ayub impressed with the bat for a Pakistan Cricket Board XI in their tour match with England.

The 32-year-old, who scored 1,213 runs and claimed 49 wickets in Division Three last season as Oakamoor narrowly missed out on promotion, made 33 on day two of the three-day encounter in Dubai.

Ayub hit five fours in his 72-ball innings before he was caught behind by Matt Prior off left-arm spinner Monty Panesar as the PCB declared on 200-9 in reply to England's 269-9.

Panesar was the pick of the England attack with 5-57, before Jonathan Trott (39no) and skipper Andrew Strauss (36no) guided the tourists to 82-0 in their second innings.

Off-spinner Ayub bowled a solitary over before the close, conceding three runs.

Leycett left-arm paceman Mohammad Khalil remains wicketless after following up first-innings figures of 0-46 with 0-12 so far in the second.

England start their three Test series against Pakistan, in Dubai, on Tuesday.

ENGLAND women's international Danielle Wyatt proved to be a Wizard of Oz as she helped Vic Spirit clinch Australia's Twenty20 title.

The 20-year-old, from the Westlands in Newcastle, produced a player-of-the-match performance to help inspire Victoria to a nine-run victory over New South Wales Breakers in the final at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium.

Jess Cameron's half-century was the pick of Vic Spirit's 143-7, although Wyatt made 39 – at better than a run-a-ball – in a 91-run stand between the pair.

Australia internationals Alex Blackwell (41) and Sarah Coyte (34) led the reply, but Wyatt's off-spin (3-23) saw them fall short on 134-9 to secure Victoria's third successive title win.

"Danni has come good at the right time of the year and her partnership with Jess Cameron won us the game," said captain Emma Inglis.

The teams now travel to Sydney's SCG to do battle for the 50-over title tomorrow, with NSW bidding to win the cup for the seventh season in a row.

The match will be Wyatt's final game of her 10-week trip to Australia before she returns to prepare for England's tour of New Zealand next month.
