"There are eight or nine young players, including Brendan and Ollie, Andy White and Ben Garratt, who are out of contract in the summer and we are already moving on that front," said Davis.
"I've spoken to the chairman and I will sit down with the players over the next couple of weeks and see where we are.
"There are one or two players who have been playing regularly too, who are on low pay and we need to put them in line with the rest of the team."
Forward Harry Clayton and defenders Paris Bateman and Jon Guthrie all have contracts which expire in 2013.
Keeper Alan Martin and captain Luke Murphy both penned new terms earlier this season which will run until the end of the 2013-14 campaign.
Davis is also keeping an eye on opposition squads and assessing who he might be able to add to his own ranks in the close season.
He said: "We are always seeing what's about and what might become available in the summer, players who might be interested in coming here.
"We are out and about watching players as much as we can and if we can."
In the short term, Davis has spoken to Chuks Aneke about extending a youth loan from Arsenal which is due to expire today.
Attacking midfielder Aneke, aged 19, has scored six goals in 22 appearances this season since arriving at Gresty Road for his first taste of regular senior football.
Davis said: "It's a two-way decision. He has been away from his family for a few months and we have had a heart-to-heart to see how he feels about staying."
