Crewe Alexandra: Steve Davis trying to tie up Nathan Ellington deal before 12pm deadline
CREWE Alexandra are closing in on the signing of Nathan Ellington in time for the striker to face Colchester United tomorrow.
Manager Steve Davis says a deal is close to being finalised for the 31-year-old, who has impressed on trial with the Alex over the past month.
Ellington has scored in each of four games as an overage player for Crewe's under-21 squad, having left Ipswich Town by mutual consent in January.
He could be thrown straight in at Colchester after it emerged Chuks Aneke (knee) is doubtful to feature.
