Crewe Alexandra: Steve Davis ready to launch late bid for League One play-off place
STEVE Davis is ready to throw off the shackles as Crewe mount an unlikely chase for the play-offs for the second successive season.
The Alex will reach their safety of 50 points if they can win at relegation-threatened Hartlepool United tonight (7.45pm).

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis is hoping to repeat last year's play-off success.
And manager Davis has told his side to settle for nothing but wins as they now aim to try to close an 11-point gap on the top six in League One.
He said: "We want to get to 50 points as quickly as we can. That's what I wanted at the start of the season.

"It's a great effort from everybody, and the quicker we can get there the better, so we will try to do it at Hartlepool.
"You could see my intent against Coventry on Saturday.
"The changes we made during the game were to win it, not to defend for a draw so that's the attitude me, the staff and the players will show from now until the end of the season."
Crewe were five points outside the League Two play-off zone at this stage last season, but still won promotion by beating Cheltenham at Wembley.
TRIALIST Nathan Ellington scored his third goal in as many games for Crewe's under-21 side in a 1-1 draw at Wigan Athletic yesterday.
