TOP scorer Mathias Pogba says he will never hide from Crewe's cause as they close in on a play-off push.

The forward, signed from Conference side Wrexham in the summer, scored his 11th goal of the season in a 2-1 win at Oldham on Saturday.

  1. Mathias Pogba celebrates scoring the winning goal against Colchester.

GOAL QUEST: Leading scorer Mathias Pogba will continue to fight the club's cause as they chase a play-off spot.

The 22-year-old will lead the line again this afternoon at home against Carlisle United (3pm) when a win could take the Alex into the League One play-off zone.

And he says he will keep fighting, even when things are not necessarily going his way.

He explained: "I missed two very big chances in the first half against Oldham, but kept going and got the goal in the end. That's how I was born, that's how I am. I have to keep going.

"The manager tells me, 'Keep going, Pogs, keep going' and even if I miss, miss and miss, I will keep going until I score.

"I get frustrated with myself if it's not going good and I'm not happy, but at the moment things are going well so I am happy."

Pogba scored 12 goals for Wrexham last season as he switched between playing on the wing and as a central striker.

He has alternated between the two positions for Crewe too, but has consistently been able to find the back of the net.

The brother of Juventus star Paul Pogba says making the step up two divisions has not proven so tough because of the way manager Steve Davis sends his team out to play.

And he is confident he can keep bagging goals as Crewe fight their way up through a congested top-half of the table, starting by targeting back-to-back home wins against 17th-placed Carlisle and 10th-placed Stevenage, who come to town on Saturday afternoon.

Pogba added: "Crewe have helped me a lot. They play a style of football I like, and since I came here I've enjoyed it a lot.

"When you are right mentally and physically, you feel good, and that's how I am now.

"I feel very, very fit and confident.

"The Crewe fans have been really great with me and I will give them everything in return.

"We must keep that going. We have to keep going to win the next two games at home, we have to win. That's how I will approach the games."
