Crewe Alexandra: Kelvin Mellor's return to action greeted by Davis
STEVE Davis is delighted Kelvin Mellor's return to fitness has led to increased competition for Crewe's full-back positions.
Mellor made an impressive first league start of the season at right-back in a 1-0 win over Coventry on Saturday, with Harry Davis moving inside to centre-half.

The versatile 21-year-old had been kept out until now as he recovered from a minor ankle operation in June.
Matt Tootle, who can also play on either side of defence and in midfield, has also made a comeback from a groin injury.

It means Gregor Robertson is now under pressure for the left-back spot he has held since arriving on a free transfer from Chesterfield in the summer.
And Davis jnr could always revert to full-back as Adam Dugdale fights for his place back in the starting line-up.
Manager Davis said: "Kelvin hasn't been ready because he missed the pre-season and wasn't match fit. We had to bide our time with him and make sure he was ready to come back in.
"It was my intention to bring in back in at right-back when he was fit. He was excellent at West Ham on Tuesday and then again on Saturday, so that has been a real bonus."
