Crewe Alexandra: Davis hoping old pals' act will lure Arsenal duo to Gresty Road
CREWE boss Steve Davis is hoping to bring in two loan signings from Arsenal in time for Saturday's home game with Tranmere Rovers.
Davis is keen to recruit a midfield replacement for Ashley Westwood following his former captain's £2m move to Aston Villa on deadline day last Friday.

Mathias Pogba is out for two weeks
He is also lining up a striker as a short-term replacement for Mathias Pogba, who will be out for at least the next two weeks with a knee injury.
Davis isn't naming his targets, but hopes to do the deals after talks with Arsenal's assistant boss Steve Bould, his former club-mate at Stoke City. He said: "I know Steve from when I was at Stoke as a 16-year-old. I made contact with him on deadline day and tried to do something then, but couldn't quite pull it off.

"However, negotiations are ongoing. Arsenal's players are grounded very much like ours in terms of the way they play. They would fit in nicely with what we do."
If Arsenal agree, Crewe could bring the players in when the window for loan players reopens on Friday.
But Davis warned the deal could still fall through because Crewe can't match the youngsters' wages.
"They are on big money there and that is always a problem. We are hopeful it will happen, but if it doesn't, we'll look elsewhere."
Meanwhile, midfielder Luke Murphy is poised to sign a new contract.
His current deal runs out at the end of the season, but he is ready to sign a new contract keeping him at the club until the summer of 2014.
The 22-year-old took over the captaincy from Westwood on Saturday and will take charge again against Rovers on Saturday.
