Crewe Alex: More injury woe for Zola
CALVIN Zola's injury woes show no sign of abating after he was ruled out of Alex's clash with Notts County today (3pm).
Crewe's leading scorer had been expected to be among the substitutes at Gresty Road, but a previous ankle problem has flared up again.
Dario Gradi said: "At a push we could have used him, but we might as well get him right. He's not trained this week and is still complaining about his ankle."
Zola's early form seems a distant memory. He has scored just three of his 16 goals in the past four months, last scoring against Darlington in January.
He limped out of the loss at Rochdale on February 6 with a hamstring strain, and hurt his ankle on his return to training.
"He's not a player who plays well when he gets these injuries," admitted the Crewe boss, who welcomes back Ashley Westwood today after the midfielder's recovery from an ear infection.
CREWE have signed striker Jordan Connerton from Lancaster City, and loaned Ajay Leitch-Smith to another UniBond First Division North side in Curzon Ashton for the rest of the season.
