COLCHESTER UNITED 4

(James 60, 90, Bond 77, Coker 87)

BYRON Moore's 19th-minute goal had given new boss Steve Davis a dream start, but the tide turned just two minutes later.

Ashley Westwood was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Ben Coker and, despite defending valiantly, the last half-hour turned into a horror show.

Lloyd James and Andy Bond edged Colchester in front, before two goals in the final three minutes from Coker and James completed Crewe's misery.

Crewe: Phillips, Tootle, Artell, Dugdale, C Martin, Westwood, Bell (Mellor, 84), Murphy, Leitch-Smith (Hughes, 84), Moore, Powell (Sarcevic, 67). Subs not used: A Martin, Davis, Shelley, Clayton.

Colchester: Williams, Okuonghae, Heath, Wilson, Vincent (Duguid, 82), Bond, James, Coker, Odejayi, Henderson, Thomas (Izzet, 56). Subs not used: Cousins, Rose, Eastman, Hamilton.

Attendance: 2,325.

FORM GUIDE

Crewe: LDWLWW

Colchester: WWWDLL

WHO WE'D LIKE TO SIGN

Anthony Wordsworth: Makes Colchester tick, he's poetry in motion when in possession.

The 23-year-old midfielder also chips in with his fair share of goals, with 34 in 190 appearances for the club.

WHO TO BOO

Brian Wilson: Played for Stoke City between 2001 and 2004, which is reason enough.

MAN IN THE MIDDLE

Eddie Ilderton (Tyne & Wear): Has dished out 38 yellow cards and a solitary red in 12 appearances this season.

PROBABLE TEAMS

Crewe: Martin, Robertson, Ellis, Davis, Tootle, Moore, Osman, Murphy, Aneke, Pogba, Dalla Valle.

Colchester: Cousins, Wilson, Okuonghae, Rose, Eastman, Eastmond, Bean, Wordsworth, Ibehre, Henderson, Sears.

PREDICTION

Lauri Dalla Valle's volley, Byron Moore's tap-in and a cheeky Chuks Aneke back heel send rampant Crewe marching to a 3-0 victory.
