CREWE defender Adam Dugdale is backing his team-mates to steal derby glory while he starts a three-game suspension.

Dugdale, below, has been left kicking his heels after being sent off with central defensive partner Dave Artell in the recent defeat at Barnet.

Saturday's cancellation against Accrington Stanley means Dugdale can't begin to tick off his punishment until this week's trip to Port Vale.

Artell, who is due to serve a one-game suspension, will also miss the Vale Park clash should it beat the cold snap.

The defensive duo's absence could prompt Alex boss Steve Davis to make a move in the loan market later in the week, although Carl Martin and Harry Davis are pencilled as centre-half cover.

"We're capable of getting a result at Port Vale even though I am gutted to be missing out," said Dugdale. "It is probably one of the biggest games of the season and it will be terrible to not play."

The suspension will put an end to Dugdale's ever-present run this term.

And while he admits he is distraught to be missing one of his favourite fixtures, he pointed out: "There are other lads in the squad capable of coming in and doing a good job.

"It's not about me, it's about the team and trying to get back to winning ways."

If the derby clash goes ahead, then Dugdale will be available for the re-arranged Accrington game, which has already been pencilled in for Tuesday, February 21 (7.45pm)

YOUNGSTERS Michael Koral and Joe Guest have been loaned out to North West Counties League neighbours Congleton Town.

Winger Koral was handed a one-year contract last summer after graduating from the club's Academy, but is yet to make his senior bow.

Full-back Guest, who is still a trainee, has featured regularly for Crewe's under-18s side this season.
