Crewe Alexandra hunt midfield reinforcement before loan deadline
CREWE are speeding up their chase for a midfielder before the Football League's loan window shuts on Thursday.
Skipper Luke Murphy and Abdul Osman are the Alex's only senior players vying for the two slots in the middle of the park, with rookie Ollie Turton the sole back up.

It has been the case since Ashley Westwood made a transfer deadline switch to Aston Villa and assistant boss Neil Baker is keen to bolster the squad.

"We are looking ok for numbers and quality in defence and attack, but we are little short of bodies in midfield, where we have only young Ollie as cover.
"Billy Waters and Liam Nolan did very well for the under-18s in the FA Youth Cup in midweek (a 5-3 win over Scunthorpe) but they are not ready for the League One yet.
"That's the area we are considering some business and if we can get the right one it makes sense to bring him in."
Defender Kelvin Mellor (knee) is out of today's match at Shrewsbury Town (3pm), meaning Gregor Robertson will continue at left-back with Matt Tootle on the right.
Byron Moore (ankle) is expected to play through the pain barrier, but Mike West (calf) was prevented from making his return training on Thursday with illness.
Max Clayton (groin) returns to the squad.
