He said: "Michael is one for the future and we have brought him in because he has a lot of potential and there is something to work with.
"He may be ready for the first team or we might have to wait a while.

Crewe have agreed a nominal compensation package with Ebbsfleet for West, who was on a part-time contract.
The youngster, who can also play in a central front role, has signed a two-year deal with the Railwaymen.
Davis has also added centre-half Mark Ellis, from Torquay, and left-back Gregor Robertson, from Chesterfield, to his first-team squad as he prepares for life in League One.
Young goalkeeper Robbie Johnson, aged 17, has left Ashton Athletic to sign a two-year scholarship with Crewe.
The teenager was released by Wigan Athletic in October last year and will now work under player-coach Steve Phillips at Reaseheath.
