DENNIS Lawrence believes Trinidad and Tobago can qualify for their second consecutive World Cup.

The on-loan Alex centre-half played his part as the Soca Warriors beat the USA 2-1 in Port of Spain last week.

That followed hard on the heels of a previous goalless affair with Guatemala.

His nation now require a draw in their last game with Cuba to hold off Guatemala's challenge and secure a place in the final round of qualifying for the 2010 South Africa tournament.

The Swansea centre-half, who is with Crewe until the turn of the year, was a key member of the Caribbean islands' 2006 adventure in Germany.

Lawrence played in the games against Sweden, England and Paraguay before Trinidad's great adventure ended.

"There is still a big interest back home and real excitement we could do it again," said Lawrence.

"We've got one more game, at home against Cuba, and we just need a point from it to guarantee we are in the last six. Guatemala would also need to win their last game against the USA, so we are in the pole position.

"But we need to make sure of qualification so we will be going to Cuba to win the game. After that we are in the final six (of the Concacaf qualifying region) and out of that three of the countries qualify for the World Cup.

"It would be great to get there again."
