Corrie sports day ends in tears
Coronation Street ITV1, 7.30pm & 8.30pm
IT'S never a good idea to have parents' events at a school sports day. It's undignified to see a deep-seated feud settled via the medium of an egg and spoon race.
-

ON THE RUN: Lloyd (Craig Charles) chases Steve (Simon Grigson).
This is exactly what happens when both Peter and Nick attend Simon's sports day. Peter resents Nick muscling in on his territory, a situation not helped any when Simon insists Nick take part in the dad's sack race. In the end, Ken steps in to settle the argument by taking part in the race himself, left regretting his impulsive actions when his cardigan's irreparably damaged in a finishing line melée.
Sadly for onlooking tots this isn't the only ugly incident to blemish a sporting event which the organisers had hoped would match the Olympics, or, at the very least, Willaston Worm-charming, in both scale and grandeur. Steve's watching Amy in the pole jump when Lloyd comes charging towards him. Realising he's baying for blood, Steve runs off, but, as Sue Barker commentates, Lloyd catches up, tackling him to the ground, a fight ensuing as the kids watch in horror.

At the root of this brawl is, of course, Tracy, who's earlier sabotaged Lloyd's entire taxi fleet by putting something – possibly Newton & Ridley Best Mild – in the fuel tanks.
Steve's furious, apologising to Lloyd before telling Tracy in no uncertain terms that he should never have got involved with her again.
Can he and Lloyd find a way forward? Yes, the Weatherfield Rickshaw Company.
