TWO hundred new jobs are up for grabs across North Staffordshire and South Cheshire after a national care company announced plans to expand.
Congleton-based home care franchise Caremark (Cheshire South East) is expanding into the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Caremark Cheshire South East managing director Mark Birrell.
It is looking for 100 new recruits to staff its new service covering Leek, Cheadle and the surrounding areas and it also wants to take on a further 100 people across South Cheshire.
The recruitment drive comes just two years after the Mountbatten Way franchise was set up and means its workforce will be more than quadrupled. It currently employs 55 people.

Caremark provides home-based personal care and support for older people as well as people of all ages with physical disabilities, learning disabilities or terminal illnesses.
It has landed contracts from Staffordshire County Council and Cheshire East Council and also provides private care.
Bosses are currently looking at premises in Leek and are aiming to have the new service up and running by October.
Recruitment is underway for office based care co-ordinators, field care supervisors and for care support workers.
Managing director Mark Birrell said: "Demand for our services continues to increase and we are delighted to be able to announce this new investment in services for the Staffordshire Moorlands area.
"Recruitment for full and part-time care workers and office staff is underway.
"There are a large number of jobs available and experience isn't necessary as we provide training at our Congleton headquarters but candidates do need to have a considerate and caring nature.
"We like to employ people to work in their own communities which means that we require staff in towns and villages throughout the region and not just the main centres."
Paul Colman, acting chief executive at South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: "New jobs for this area is fantastic in the current climate and we are delighted Caremark is expanding."
Caremark is looking to recruit care and support workers in Leek, Cheadle, Congleton, Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach and Alsager.
Leek mayor Pam Wood welcomed news of the expansion, but added that more needs to be done to create highly-skilled jobs in the area.
She said: "It's good news that we're going to be getting some more jobs because one or two firms have closed down.
"But I still feel what we should be doing is trying to attract more well-paid jobs."
Caremark's services include help with washing and dressing, assistance with shopping, preparing light meals, domestic duties and companionship.
It also provides a 24 hour live-in service and delivers care support to children and young adults with learning difficulties and physical disabilities.

“Should it be a worry that they hope to have the service up and running in October, yes it is the 13th September today, It is good to see that they are leaving plenty of time for good quality recruitment and training.
The local councils are dumping the elderly and their own staff who use and provide this service.
Stoke council have had a consultation period re the closure of Burslem day centre, have they listened or was it a done deal. The centre is closing and they are to charge anyone with over £22k capital nearly £50 a day to use the day centre service. How can the council not break even with elderly care, while private companies will make profit.
A system in which it does not pay to work and save, better to live a life on the dole , not save, or provide for your family. better to draw social, drink, smoke, and of course use a taxi which you call on your i phone, to take you up the road to do your shopping. It is not a suprise to me that we have more than our share of underclass in the City. Let the council look after those who have contributed for a change.”

“What gets to me is the emphasise on jobs and business not proper care for the vulnerable. You can get shares in a company floated on the stock market and its portfolio may contain a care home as a going business. Is this the way we should be caring and cared for?”

“One thing that really makes my blood boil is inaccurate headlines especially ones that attempt to make things look good in the public's eye.
What this article does not mention is the number of staff the council have made redundant in the process and that this is just a cost cutting exercise by the council.
Now I am not going to argue whether the council is right or wrong to outsource these jobs or whether it will result in a better or worse service value for money etc but I would like to see the headlines correct.
So how many jobs are being taken over and how many created? If the latter is really 200 then I do apologise but I suspect that is not the case.”
