College cash must be secured quickly
TOO LATE: In Mike Wolfe's column regarding the University Quarter (The Sentinel, July 1) he states that the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) is responsible for the £90million to rebuild Stoke College now being delayed. Correct.
He also states that the blow has not been caused by any failure of the local team managing the project. Maybe not so correct.
Newcastle College has a brand new campus opening in January. They got their money off the LSC – perhaps they got in early.
The money was there because Newcastle College got in first. Let's hope the funding is in place next year.
We do not want our city's college of further education remaining as a demolition site in perpetuity, rather like Hanley.
