Clubbing with Professor X
WHILE we bask in the glory of summer heats resembling that of a tropical island, and the sun stays high in the sky till at least 8pm, where is there to go that matches what is undoubtedly holiday weather? Two places spring to mind in Hanley, which match the mood that summer brings. The first is Fat Cats, pictured, Trinity Street, with a great designed interior largely based around dark woods and big leather sofas. They have a more sophisticated selection of beers, wines and spirits, some of which you won't find in other bars and clubs around town. Most notably there is a cute little beer garden – ideal as a starting point on a Friday night summer evening.
The other place is The Sugarmill. Not because of its Electric on a Friday night or Reckless on a Saturday night, but because of their uber cool roof terrace.
As a regular reader, you will always read me waxing lyrical about this place, but if you've been there you wouldn't blame me. Neon lights, decking and an assortment of some of our coolest residents make it a very enjoyable experience. Open from 10pm on a Friday or Saturday night, you can be sure to be treated to some musical delights till way into the small hours.
For those interested in where I'll be tonight, I'll be at Touch in Trinity Street doing my experimental session till 2am. I'll be playing anything that's hot across all genres of music old and new, and before you ask, yes, I will play some Michael Jackson as a tribute to his untimely death. Don't forget to take full advantage of the free entry till 11pm.
