FAMOUS sisters Anthea Turner and Wendy Turner-Webster, pictured, have described their shock at hearing of the school's closure plans.

Wendy was a pupil there for three years in the 1970s when it was part of St Dominic's High School. It became an independent junior school in 1980. Anthea attended the senior school.

Wendy, aged 42, said: "I have many happy memories. I've still got my St Dominic's school tie and the first school jumper and badge."

Anthea, aged 49, added: "Even now, when I drive up Hartshill bank, I can't believe there are houses there instead of children on the sports field and lots of girls wearing navy uniforms.

"I appreciate schools of this nature are businesses, and have to be viable, but it would be good if the parents campaigned to keep it open."
