Clock's ticking for CarFest
T HERE are a few tickets left for presenter Chris Evans's charity CarFest. It is being staged next month and petrol heads can see some of the most spectacular racing and sports cars in action at close quarters while raising money for BBC's Children in Need appeal.
This Ferrari Enzo will be just one of the cars in action at the event being held at Cholmondeley Castle, near Nantwich, on September 8 and 9.
Originally the 20,000 tickets printed were snapped up within days of Chris announcing the scheme but organisers have had permission to make some more available although anyone wanting to attend is advised to act quickly.
Cars have been arranged in groups of seven in themes such as Chris's Magnificent Seven (a collection of Ferraris), European Supercars (Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, Maseratis) US Supercars (Shelby Mustang, Corvette ZRs) Far East Supercars (Lexus LF-A, Nissan GTR) Motorsports (F1, Le Mans), £1 million-plus (Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Reventon), Group B Rally Cars (MG Metro 6R4, Lancia Delta S4), Historic F1 (Brabham, Lotus, Ferrari, WIlliams) Design Classics (Lamborghini Miura, E-Type, Aston DB4), a category simply called Gorgeous (Jaguar XJ200, Ford GT-40, AS Cobra) and one for unusual machines which includes a JCB dragster.

This is by no means a complete list of the cars that will be driven on the course used for the Pageant of Power held at Cholmondeley earlier this year and there will be several hundred extraordinary cars on show.
In addition there will be some great music and food, courtesy of 1979 World Champion Jody Scheckter's organic farm at Laverstoke Park in Surrey which is hosting an equivalent event there.
Chris says: "It's getting quite scary. I had this crazy CarFest idea back in March and since then everything has gone completely bonkers. We've sold thousands and thousands of tickets, launched this second event in the north and been overwhelmed with offers for super-duper cars, some of my favourite live bands plus fabulous food and now the clock is ticking down. Boy, from a personal and selfish point of view, this really is going to be good. It's my kind of festival – I'm just hoping everyone else agrees with me, the sun shines and that we raise humongous amounts of money for BBC Children in Need as, after all, that's what all this fantastic fun is really all about."
