RESIDENTS have had their say on where they want to see cleaned up by criminals.

People were asked to vote for which of five areas in Stoke-on-Trent should be the first to benefit from the Community Payback scheme.

High Street in Goldenhill, was the winner with 208 of the 590 votes cast.

Other nominations were Uttoxeter Road in Normacot, Berry Hill, Northwood and Birches Head, and Fenton Garage on Park Lane.

Work on an area between Elgood Street and Heathside Lane will begin today.

Members of Sandyford and Goldenhill Residents' Association urged residents to vote. Secretary Tom Simpson said: "We want to put some pride back into our area."

“maybe they ought to start at the civic centre...starting with cleansing the morals of some of the councillors who pretend to have this cities best interests at heart....”

    “Alex (Butterton)

Not as sad as someone from outside the area feeling the need to make childish remarks about people who might not be as fortunate as themselves.

Why even bother to make a comment if you have nothing positive to say?

Sounds like you need to get a life pal!”
