DAVE Kitson fired another timely reminder that talk of his second coming could be far more than mere hype alone.

Kitson's actions are matching his words right now as he bagged his second goal in four games during another performance aimed at re-establishing his reputation as a bona fide Premier League striker.

And Stoke's attacking potential was further boosted by the sight of Ricardo Fuller laying to rest his Lord Lucan impression by returning from his extended summer hibernation with a heartening cameo hinting at his very best form.

The net result last night was an improved second-half display that was to fully merit the final outcome against a Forest side equally lively ahead of their Championship kick-off in nine days.

“I think "penny-pinching" is a bit unfair Kevin. We don't have the money other clubs do, but Coates has invested a lot into the team already and it kept us up last season. To me, its just good business sense to take the gamble on Kitson instead of another gamble on another £5M+ striker who may not settle either. Kitson has scored double-figures in the Prem in the past, and if he is scoring pre-season he surely deserves another shout. If we get Ashton too, all the better.”

“Fair enough; Kitson did not have the strikers instinct at Stoke; which is what we are mostly concerned about. I think your estimation of Puliss' motive for bringing Kitson back is naieve. Pulis at the order from Coates is penny pinching again and are edging their bets on whether Stoke fans will swallow the Kitson phenemenon again. By the look of it you have fallen for it hook line and sinker. Everybody is judged on their performances and Kitson failed the test simple as.”

“Kitson's record before joining us shows that he does have a strikers instinct and is good enough. There are plenty of players who move clubs and struggle in their first season. And Pulis would never have welcomed him back if he didn't think he was committed.”

“He was a bad buy; looked to delicate on the ball and defenders were making a mess of him. Why field a player who has had his chance and proved he is not good enough. Did he not publicy state that he did not want to play for Stoke? Now all of a sudden he's back in the frame. Something not ringing true. As for Ashton he has to be worth a shot. When I first saw him at Crewe he had the strikers instinct then (something Kitson has not). If he gets fully fit he could see his best form of his career coming to fruition at Stoke”

“I really hope Kitson gets another opportunity this season to alter the fans opinions of him. I'm so glad he's been scoring in pre-season games. We know he struggled beyond belief last season but if he has regained his confidence, he may just rediscover the form that made TP buy him and, at the time, got the fans excited.”
