Cinema brings opera to the masses
OPERA has a long standing connection with the wealthy and upper class and is often thought of as inaccessible, unless you live in London.
However, thanks to the Vue cinema in Newcastle, audiences have the opportunity to watch Puccini's Il Trittico in the comfort of their local cinema.

The opera is performed at The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, and this is their first complete presentation of Puccini's Il trittico since 1965.
The opera was first staged at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, in 1918 and came to The Royal Opera House, London in 1920.
Leading director Richard Jones staged his witty, darkly comic realization of Gianni Schicchi for The Royal Opera in 2007, and here he completes the trio.
Instead of a single evening-length narrative, Puccini offered three contrasting one-act works.
This is an ideal opportunity for opera lovers and also for those who are curious about opera and wish to experience it for the first time.
Il Trittico is showing at the Vue cinema in Newcastle on Monday February 6 at 7pm. For tickets, call the booking line 08712 240 240.

“Actually you don't have to be in London! You can go to a local Opera Company just down the road in Congleton - Clonter Opera. A charity too they are not to be missed. See their summer performance of Hansel and Gretel in the Cheshire countryside - a full dining/performance experience, a real one off! Designed to be open to everyone, Clonter also run educational workshops for regional schools too. A hidden gem see http://tinyurl.com/7snl6at”
