Church offers great support to the community
GOOD WORKS: It has been interesting to read comments on church involvement in the community by Fred Hall. It does go unnoticed because the Christian way should be not to boast of charity work. Action for children is supported almost entirely by the Methodist churches. It was also pleasing to read of the Staffordshire Credit Union. The Cheshire Neighbours Credit Union was, I believe, started mainly by church members in Crewe wanting to do something to prevent vulnerable people from getting involved with loan sharks. It is expanding rapidly and an office has been opened at Wesley Place Methodist Church in Alsager (www.wesley-place.org.uk) every Saturday morning from 10am to noon. The church members do not have access to the financial details of the Credit Union Members.
