IN SAFE HANDS: Winners of a competition designed to teach children and young people about staying safe have been presented with their prizes.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council asked school pupils to design a bookmark based on the theme.

The aim was to ensure that young readers became aware of where they could go to get further information and advice. And the three winning designs by St Wilfrid's Catholic Primary School pupil Ella-J Dale, aged seven, from Tunstall, Grange Primary School pupil Amy Evans, aged 11, from Meir, and 12-year-old Aaron Harvey, from Dresden, who goes to Trentham High School, were unveiled yesterday.

And the lucky trio won family trips out and certificates at the Fenton Manor Sports centre. The winning bookmarks will be produced and given to all city school pupils in Stoke-on-Trent.

Pictured is Aaron Harvey, aged 12, of Trentham High School, with his anti-bullying bookmark design which was the 11 to 16-year-old section winner.
