HISTORIC ANGLE: Children have been celebrating their heritage at a range of workshops this summer.

Stafford Castle and Izaak Walton's Cottage are among the historic venues hosting activity days.

Yesterday children were invited to take part in fishing-themed games at Izaak Walton's Cottage. The Shallowford cottage, which was once home to the author of the Compleat Angler, is now a museum dedicated to his life.

Youngsters tried their hand at fly-casting and observed river life through a microscope.

Activities at Stafford Castle will run up until Friday, August 22, and workshops at Izaak Walton's Cottage run until this Friday.

Mark Hartwell, heritage sites manager at Stafford Borough Council, said: "Stafford Castle activities are now almost fully booked for the remainder of the holiday."
