Charity farm prepares for oompah night
VISITORS to a farm are set to enjoy a taste of the English countryside and a little German music at a charity event.
Karl's Bavarian Brass has been secured by the Stone National Farmers' Union branch for a fund-raising 'oompah' night on Friday, July 3.
The event, which will raise funds for a children's hospice and a village hall, will be held at Aston Hill Farm.
Staffordshire produce and farming will be promoted at the social night and guests are asked to go along for a 7.30pm start.
Proceeds from the night will go to the Donna Louise Children's Hospice and a raffle will raise funds for the refurbishment of Aston village hall.
Farmer Graham Clay, NFU regional tenants' chairman who lives in the village, said: "We are doing this event to raise funds for charity, bring the rural community together and celebrate local food.
"We have a locally reared animal for the hog roast, which the village butcher will prepare and cook, strawberries grown just down the road, bread from our village baker and the butter, cream and milk will also be local."
