A CHARITY is pleading for people to have a good sort-out of wardrobes, cupboards and drawers.

The Cancer Research UK shop, in Merrial Street, Newcastle, wants people to bring their unwanted items.

Volunteers at the shop say stocks are currently low, as many people have turned to charity shops to grab themselves a bargain or two during the current credit crunch, which means the shop needs more stock to keep up with customer demand.

Shop manager Averil Hewitt said: "Our lives are forever changing and this means that our style and our tastes change too.

"Rather than hanging on to trousers that we're never going to wear again, books that we will never read, or vases that haven't been taken out of a cupboard for years, why not donate them to us, safe in the knowledge that every item we sell means more money towards vital cancer research?

"Items that you once loved could again become someone's 'favourite', giving them a new lease of life, and also creating more room for all things new. Just pop any donations along to our shop where they will be gratefully received."
