TALK: Dr Charles Clapham will give a talk, entitled Beyond Private Religion, at Keele University Chapel today at 1pm. And Niall Cooper will talk about Christianity and poverty next Wednesday, February 3, at 1pm, also in the university chapel.
HOLOCAUST: A week of events is now taking place at Stafford's Collegiate Church of St Mary to mark Holocaust Memorial Day today. An exhibition runs until Friday at St Mary, featuring artwork by pupils at Stafford Sports College. The church will also host a display of Jewish religion and culture from Staffordshire's Jewish community, and an exhibition by Staffordshire University. The exhibition is open daily, from 11am to 3pm, and entrance to all events is free.
BREWING UP: People can drop in for a free cup of tea or coffee at St Paul's Church, Church Square, Burslem, every Saturday at 2pm.
PRAYER: Morning prayer will be held at Christ Church, Stone, on Sunday at 9.15am.
WHAT A HEALING: A healing session will take place at All Nations Christian Fellowship at St Paul's Church, Church Square, Burslem, on Sunday, between 1pm and 3pm.
CANDLEMAS: Evensong for Candlemas will take place at St Mary Magdalene Church, Alsager, on Sunday at 6.30pm.
PRAYER: People can drop in to pray for physical, mental or emotional healing at the Healing Rooms, Beacon House of Prayer, 550 High Street, Sandyford, on the first and third Wednesday of the month, between 6.30pm and 8pm. The sessions are run by a team of members from churches around the city. For further information, call 01782 827238.
REMEMBRANCE: A Holy Communion service is held at St Andrew's Church, the Westlands, on the first Thursday of every month at 10am, at which the names for that month are read from the Book of Remembrance. The service is followed by coffee in the parish room.
SPEAKERS: Robert and Rosemary McAuley, from Northern Ireland, will be the guest speakers at a special weekend being held at Rhema Mission Church, Rode Heath Chapel, Chapel Lane, Rode Heath, on Saturday and Sunday, February 6 and 7. There will be an evening celebration on the Saturday at 7pm and a morning service on the Sunday at 10.30am. To find out more, call 01270 874246.
FILM: Wesley Place Methodist church in Alsager will be showing a film entitled How To Catch Your Breath by the author and raconteur J John tonight at 8pm. J John will explain the significance of the fourth Commandment (resting on the seventh day) in today's world. The film will be followed by light refreshments and time to chat about the issues raised. There is no charge for this event.
