Chance in a million to see emerging quartet
A UDIENCES are being invited to see a Leek band in action before they hit the big time. One Million Fingers will perform at the Foxlowe, Market Place, this weekend.
The four-piece original and covers band is made up of Simon "Superstar" Ainsworth on guitars and lead vocals, Stu Gilman on guitars and backing vocals, Joe Perry on bass and backing vocals, and drummer Jake Brightmore.
One Million Fingers emerged from the remains of Freshwater Only in June 2006. The current line-up has been together since 2008.
Playing a variety of covers old and new with a mix of original material, the band achieve a good audience reaction while still putting across some essentially unknown material.
Tracie Welch, landlady of the Foxlowe, said: "These lads are too talented for their own good. I would recommend people come along on Friday before they have to travel a long way to see them perform because these lads will go a long way in the music industry." One Million Fingers will be at the Foxlowe on Friday, while on Saturday pop and rock band The Tetleys will take to the stage at the Market Place venue. After two decades on the local music scene, The Tetleys, who formed in 1989, are still going strong. The Tetleys consist of Steve Rider who lives in East Street, Leek, and is an engineer by trade, on vocals and guitar, his programmer brother Jase, of Mulberry Way, on bass, drummer Jez Annable, who lives on Nab Hill in Leek and works in agricultural sales, and educational adviser Gerry Richards, of May Bank, who is also on vocals and guitar. The band's name comes from a brand of beer that was on tap at the time of their first gig at The Wilkes Head in Leek.
The Tetleys performed at last year's NABD Festival and Leek's Wilkes Head music festivals. Their new CD entitled "Missile" is out now, and will be on sale on the night of their Foxlowe gig.
Both gigs at the Foxlowe this weekend will start at 9pm with free admission. For details about upcoming events at the Foxlowe visit www.foxlowe.webs.com.
