A MOTHER has presented a cheque for more than £3,000 to the hospital that cared for her son.

Peter Macdonald, from Talke Pits, died at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire in December after an 11-month battle with leukaemia.

Now, the 24-year-old's mother, Yvonne, has presented the hospital's cancer clinic with a cheque for £3,052.

The money was raised at the Stoke City fan's funeral and wake, and a football match by his colleagues at Michelin.

It has been presented to staff on ward 201, where Peter was treated.

Yvonne, also from Talke Pits, said the money would help young people who spend a lot of time in hospital.

She added: "We want to help young people pass the time on the ward by making sure each room has internet access.

"Peter had said all along that he wanted any money raised to go towards teenagers and young people with cancer, so he would be very happy."
