Car park will shut as store takes shape
THE first phase of an £8 million supermarket development has been completed.
Foundations have been laid for the new Co-operative store in Alsager and the supermarket is on track to be open by the end of the year.
The scheme, which also includes a new town square area and children's playground, will see the Co-op's existing store on Lawton Road double in size.
It will remain open throughout the development.

But as the building work progresses, the car park in front of the shop will be closed temporarily from Monday, May 14.
Instead, shoppers will be able to use a newly-created car park, with additional spaces, next to the supermarket.
Store manager, Nick James, said: "We understand that having to temporarily relocate the car park may inconvenience some of our loyal customers, but it is a measure we have to take.
"Easy access to this store is vital for many members of the local community, particularly the elderly, so we are pleased to be able to offer a porter service for the weeks that the original car park will be unavailable.
"Members of staff will be on hand to help people carry their shopping to their cars, and all they have to do is ask at the checkout."
The development, which got underway in March, will secure the 40 existing jobs at the supermarket as well as creating a number of new positions.
