I write regarding Sigley's being refused permission by councillors to demolish the old workshop.

The funeral directors wanted to demolish the eyesore workshop and replace it with a landscaped car park which would benefit not only Sigley's, but also local residents and mourners who could park without driving around streets looking for a space in times of distress.

If this area is a conservation area, why was a builder's yard allowed to be sited within it?

Most of the residents are in favour of the removal of this empty building.

It would also easier parking problems in the surrounding streets.

But, as usual, the 'we-know-best' brigade has refused permission, and they don't even live in the area concerned.

I always thought these people were in power to represent the interests of local people and the area.

However, this shows that they do not.

It just goes to show, like the present Government, how out of touch with the real world these people are.
