Canoeing: Trio's hopes left in the balance
A TRENTHAM trio's hopes of Paralympic gold could be dashed – because their boat is stuck in France.
Coach John Court believes Trentham Canoe Club stars Dan Hopwood, Russell Udukumbura and Ian Marsden could be an unbeatable team in the Rio Paralympics in 2016.

Former Olympian Court, pictured right, from Eccleshall, has been instrumental in getting canoeing included in the Rio Games for the first time having successfully lobbied the Olympic federation and the sport's governing bodies.
He believes the Paralympics will decide to include a three-seater team event, but Trentham don't have a three-seater canoe.
They have raised the funds to buy the boat, but need £1,300 to transport it from France.
Court is appealing for sponsors to help meet the bill.
He explains the boat will be put to good use at Trentham – and not only by the Paralympic hopefuls.
He said: "When eventually based at Trentham, the boat will be worked hard across elite Para athletes, breast cancer and stroke survivors and aspiring juniors."
The boat will also allow coaches to accompany pairs of kayakers on the water.
Court added: "In this cold weather, conditions on the lake are challenging, not to say hazardous for my athletes with disabilities.
"Apart from putting our athletes in a boat that is likely to be the crew boat in future Paralympics, I should like to ensure their safety on the lake by being in the boat with them."
Individuals or businesses who are interested in sponsoring the Trentham boat are asked to contact John Court, telephone 07858 352225 or (01785) 284417.
