ARMY cadets will help promote a Poppy Appeal.

The Stone and District Poppy Appeal includes collections in and around Stone from Monday until next Saturday, November 8.

Cadets will patrol the high street while a team of collectors will move from door to door before setting up stalls at Somerfield and Morrisons.

Collection points will also be available in pubs and other shops.

Organiser David McCarthy, a member of the Royal British Legion, said: "Members of the Armed Forces go to war on our behalf and do a terrific job. Those who have fought and those who are fighting must be not be forgotten.

"Some of them may return with debilitating injuries, so it's our job to assist them in any way we can."

The proceeds of the appeal will ensure social, financial and emotional support to those who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces.
